Full Name
Capping Actin Protein Of Muscle Z-Line Alpha Subunit 3
Introduction
CAPZA3 (Capping Actin Protein Of Muscle Z-Line Alpha Subunit 3) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are Endocytosis and Cell cycle_Spindle assembly and chromosome separation. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include actin binding. An important paralog of this gene is CAPZA1.

Function
F-actin-capping proteins bind in a Ca2+-independent manner to the fast growing ends of actin filaments (barbed end) thereby blocking the exchange of subunits at these ends. Unlike other capping proteins (such as gelsolin and severin), these proteins do not sever actin filaments. May play a role in the morphogenesis of spermatid (By similarity).
