DCTD catalyzes the deamination of dCMP to dUMP, the nucleotide substrate for thymidylate synthase. The protein is allosterically activated by dCTP and inhibited by dTTP, and is found as a homohexamer. This protein uses zinc as a cofactor for its activity.
