Lgl1

Cortical cytoskeleton protein found in a complex involved in maintaining cell polarity and epithelial integrity. LLGL1 scribble cell polarity complex component is involved in the regulation of mitotic spindle orientation, proliferation, differentiation and tissue organization of neuroepithelial cells. LLGL1 scribble cell polarity complex component is involved in axonogenesis through RAB10 activation thereby regulating vesicular membrane trafficking toward the axonal plasma membrane.

Cell projection, axon
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
Localized to the lateral membrane during the polarization and formation cell-cell contacts. Enriched in developing axons (By similarity).
PTM
Phosphorylated by PRKCI on at least one of the following Ser residues: Ser 654, Ser-658, Ser-662, Ser-669 and Ser-672. Phosphorylation is important for appropriated cell polarization.
