MSP19

Msp-19 encodes a protein that belongs to a family of proteins called the Major Sperm Proteins (MSPs) that is conserved in nematodes; msp-19 has a homolog in C. briggsae as predicted by the Wobble Aware Bulk Aligner (WABA); the msp gene family consists of closely. The protein forms an extensive filament system that extends from sperm villipoda, along the leading edge of the pseudopod.
Full Name
Major sperm protein 19/31/40/45/50/51/53/59/61/65/81/113/142
Function
Central component in molecular interactions underlying sperm crawling. Forms an extensive filament system that extends from sperm villipoda, along the leading edge of the pseudopod.
Cellular Location
Cytoskeleton
Other locations
