ADGRB2

This gene encodes a a seven-span transmembrane protein that is thought to be a member of the secretin receptor family. The encoded protein is a brain-specific inhibitor of angiogenesis. The mature peptide may be further cleaved into additional products (PMID:20367554). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2014]
Full Name
Adhesion G Protein-Coupled Receptor B2
Function
Orphan G-protein coupled receptor involved in cell adhesion and probably in cell-cell interactions. Activates NFAT-signaling pathway, a transcription factor, via the G-protein GNAZ. Involved in angiogenesis inhibition (By similarity).
Biological Process
Adenylate cyclase-activating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway
Calcineurin-NFAT signaling cascade
Cell surface receptor signaling pathway

Negative regulation of angiogenesis
Peripheral nervous system development
Cellular Location
Cell membrane

PTM
Autoproteolytic processes at the GPS domain; this cleavage modulates receptor activity. Additionally, furin is involved in the cleavage at another site, in the middle of the extracellular domain, generating a soluble fragment.
Glycosylated.
