Introduction
The protein encoded by this gene contains 2 leucine zipper domains and a putative C-terminal nuclear targeting signal, but does not have any hydrophobic regions. By its binding to cytohesin-1 (CYTH1), it modifies activation of ARFs by CYTH1 and its precise function may be to sequester CYTH1 in the cytoplasm.This protein is expressed weakly in resting NK and T cells. Using a somatic cell hybrid mapping panel, Kim (1999) mapped the PSCDBP gene to chromosome 2. They localized the PSCDBP gene to 2q11.2 by radiation hybrid mappingThe encoded protein modulates the activation of ARF genes by CYTH1. This protein interacts with CYTH1 and SNX27 proteins and may act to sequester CYTH1 protein in the cytoplasm.
