Introduction

Lysophospholipases are enzymes that act on biological membranes to regulate the multifunctional lysophospholipids. LGALS13 has lysophospholipase activity. It is composed of two identical subunits which are held together by disulfide bonds. LGALS13 has structural similarity to several members of the beta-galactoside-binding S-type lectin family. Diseases associated with LGALS13 include Severe Pre-Eclampsia and Pre-Eclampsia. Among its related pathways are Integrated Breast Cancer Pathway. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include carbohydrate binding and lysophospholipase activity.An important paralog of this gene is LGALS16.
