Target

Full Name
NACC2
Introduction
NACC2 (nucleus accumbens-associated protein 2) is a protein that has protein homodimerization activity and transcriptional repressor activity, RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific binding. Diseases associated with NACC2 include interstitial myocarditis and Fiedler's myocarditis. An important paralog of this gene is NACC1.

Alternative Names
BEND9; BTBD14A; BTBD31; MGC23427
Function
Functions as a transcriptional repressor through its association with the NuRD complex. Recruits the NuRD complex to the promoter of MDM2, leading to the repression of MDM2 transcription and subsequent stability of p53/TP53.
