What is the expected molecular weight of ADSSL1 in Western Blotting?

The canonical isoform of human ADSSL1 has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 50 kDa. This antibody consistently detects a band at this size in lysates from relevant tissues and cells (e.g., skeletal muscle, heart, C2C12 cells). Depending on the sample and gel conditions, slight variations in migration may occur.

Is this antibody specific for ADSSL1, or does it cross-react with the other isozyme, ADSS (ADSS2)?

This antibody was generated using the full-length human ADSSL1 protein as the immunogen. While ADSSL1 and ADSS share some sequence homology, this antibody has been validated to be specific for ADSSL1 in our standard applications (WB, IHC, ELISA) using relevant control tissues that express one or both isozymes. However, we always recommend that researchers verify specificity in their own system.
