Target

Full Name
ATAD2
Introduction
ATPase Family, AAA Domain Containing 2 (ATAD2) is a protein containing two AAA domains, as well as a bromodomain. Diseases associated with ATAD2 include Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease, Type 1E. Among its related pathways are transcriptional regulation by the AP-2 (TFAP2) family of transcription factors and gene expression. This gene include chromatin binding and histone binding. An important paralog of this gene is ATAD2B.

Alternative Names
ATPase Family, AAA Domain Containing 2; AAA Nuclear Coregulator Cancer-Associated Protein; ANCCA; EC 3.6.1.3; PRO2000; CT137
Function
May be a transcriptional coactivator of the nuclear receptor ESR1 required to induce the expression of a subset of estradiol target genes, such as CCND1, MYC and E2F1. May play a role in the recruitment or occupancy of CREBBP at some ESR1 target gene promoters. May be required for histone hyperacetylation. Involved in the estrogen-induced cell proliferation and cell cycle progression of breast cancer cells.
