Target

Full Name
GST
Introduction
Glutathione S-transferases (GST) are a family of enzymes that catalyze conjugation of reduced glutathione to a wide range of substrates, usually resulting in detoxification. They also function as transport proteins. The GST-alpha isoenzyme is located mainly in centrilobular hepatocytes (unlike aminotransferases) and in the kidney, and thus is a sensitive and relatively specific liver biomarker.
Alternative Names
Glutathion-S-transferase
