Target

Full Name
Cyclin F
Introduction
CCNF (Cyclin F) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CCNF include Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis 1 and Necrotizing Fasciitis. Among its related pathways are Innate Immune System and Class I MHC mediated antigen processing and presentation.
Entrez Gene ID
UniProt ID
Alternative Names
Cyclin F; F-Box Only Protein 1; FBXO1; FBX1; G2/Mitotic-Specific Cyclin-F; Cyclin-F;
Function
Substrate recognition component of a SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex which mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of CP110 during G2 phase, thereby acting as an inhibitor of centrosome reduplication.
Biological Process
Cell division Source: UniProtKB-KW
Mitotic cell cycle phase transition Source: GO_Central
Negative regulation of centrosome duplication Source: UniProtKB
Placenta development Source: Ensembl
Post-translational protein modification Source: Reactome
Protein polyubiquitination Source: Reactome
Protein ubiquitination Source: UniProtKB
Re-entry into mitotic cell cycle Source: Ensembl
Regulation of cyclin-dependent protein serine/threonine kinase activity Source: GO_Central
SCF-dependent proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process Source: UniProtKB
Cellular Location
Centriole; Nucleus. Localization in the centrosome is rare in S phase cells and increases in G2 cells, Localizes on both the mother and daughter centrioles. Localization to centrosomes is not dependent on CP110. Also localizes to the nucleus.
PTM
Degraded when the spindle assembly checkpoint is activated during the G2-M transition. Degradation is not dependent on the proteasome or ubiquitin and depends on the C-terminal PEST sequence.
Phosphorylated just before cells enter into mitosis.
