Target

Full Name
CHKA
Introduction
The major pathway for the biosynthesis of phosphatidylcholine occurs via the CDP-choline pathway. The protein encoded by this gene is the initial enzyme in the sequence and may play a regulatory role. The encoded protein also catalyzes the phosphorylation of ethanolamine. Diseases associated with CHKA include Small Cell Carcinoma Of The Bladder and Hepatitis C Virus. Among its related pathways are Metabolism and phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis.

UniProt ID
Alternative Names
CK; EK; CHK; CKI
Function
Has a key role in phospholipid biosynthesis and may contribute to tumor cell growth. Catalyzes the first step in phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis. Contributes to phosphatidylethanolamine biosynthesis. Phosphorylates choline and ethanolamine. Has higher activity with choline.
