Target

Full Name
DIX Domain Containing 1
Introduction
DIXDC1 is a positive regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway. The protein is found associated with gamma tubulin at the centrosome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
Entrez Gene ID
UniProt ID
Alternative Names
DIX Domain Containing 1; Coiled-Coil Protein DIX1; CCD1; DIX Domain-Containing Protein 1; Coiled-Coil-DIX1; KIAA1735; Dixin;
Function
Positive effector of the Wnt signaling pathway; activates WNT3A signaling via DVL2. Regulates JNK activation by AXIN1 and DVL2.
Biological Process
Canonical Wnt signaling pathway Source: UniProtKB
Cerebral cortex radially oriented cell migration Source: Ensembl
Forebrain ventricular zone progenitor cell division Source: Ensembl
Negative regulation of neuron differentiation Source: Ensembl
Positive regulation of Wnt signaling pathway Source: Ensembl
Regulation of actin cytoskeleton organization Source: Ensembl
Regulation of microtubule cytoskeleton organization Source: Ensembl
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm; Stress fiber; Focal adhesion. Colocalizes with gamma-tubulin at the centrosome, both during interphase and mitosis (PubMed:19375513). Associated with actin stress fiber at the filament ends (PubMed:16814745).
Isoform 2: Cytoplasm. Not associated with stress fibers.
PTM
Phosphorylated on tyrosine and serine residues.
Polyubiquitinated, leading to its proteasomal degradation. WNT3A signaling increases DIXDC1 protein levels by inhibiting its ubiquitination and subsequent degradation.
