Target

Full Name
insulin receptor-related receptor
Introduction
INSRR (Insulin Receptor Related Receptor) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with INSRR include Regular Astigmatism and Podoconiosis. Among its related pathways are Akt Signaling and Nanog in Mammalian ESC Pluripotency. GO annotations related to this gene include transferase activity, transferring phosphorus-containing groups and protein tyrosine kinase activity. An important paralog of this gene is IGF1R. Using genomic DNA encoding part of IRR in Southern blot analysis of DNA from human-mouse cell hybrids, Shier et al. (1990) assigned the INSRR gene to human chromosome 1. By radiation hybrid analysis, Whitmore et al. (1999) mapped the gene to chromosome 1q21-q23. This similarity suggested that the insulin receptor-related receptor (IRR) mediates the action of a ligand that is identical or very similar to insulin (176730), IGF1 (147440), or IGF2 (147470). Receptor with tyrosine-protein kinase activity. Functions as a pH sensing receptor which is activated by increased extracellular pH. Activates an intracellular signaling pathway that involves IRS1 and AKT1/PKB.
