Target

Full Name
trinucleotide repeat containing 6B
Introduction
TNRC6B (Trinucleotide Repeat Containing 6B) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are RET signaling and Innate Immune System. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to TNRC6B include nucleotide binding. An important paralog of TNRC6B is TNRC6A.

Alternative Names
Trinucleotide Repeat Containing 6B; KIAA1093
Function
Plays a role in RNA-mediated gene silencing by both micro-RNAs (miRNAs) and short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) (PubMed:16289642, PubMed:19167051, PubMed:19304925, PubMed:32354837).
Required for miRNA-dependent translational repression and siRNA-dependent endonucleolytic cleavage of complementary mRNAs by argonaute family proteins (PubMed:16289642, PubMed:19167051, PubMed:19304925, PubMed:32354837).
As scaffolding protein associates with argonaute proteins bound to partially complementary mRNAs and simultaneously can recruit CCR4-NOT and PAN deadenylase complexes (PubMed:21981923).

Cellular Location
Cytoplasm, P-body
Mammalian P-bodies are also known as GW bodies (GWBs).
Involvement in disease
Global developmental delay with speech and behavioral abnormalities (GDSBA):
An autosomal dominant disorder manifesting in infancy or early childhood. It is characterized by mildly delayed fine and motor skills, mildly impaired intellectual development, speech and language delay, and variable behavioral abnormalities, mostly autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Additional non-specific features include facial dysmorphism, myopia or strabismus, and skeletal defects.
