Target

Full Name
testis-specific serine kinase 1B
Introduction
TSSK1 belongs to a family of serine/threonine kinases highly expressed in testis (Hao et al., 2004 [PubMed 15044604]).
Entrez Gene ID
UniProt ID
Alternative Names
Testis Specific Serine Kinase 1B; Serine/Threonine Kinase 22D (Spermiogenesis Associated); Serine/Threonine-Protein Kinase 22A; Testis-Specific Serine Kinase 1; Testis-Specific Kinase 1; EC 2.7.11.1; STK22D; SPOGA4; TSSK-1; TSSK1; TSK-1
Function
Testis-specific serine/threonine-protein kinase required during spermatid development. Phosphorylates 'Ser-288' of TSKS. Involved in the late stages of spermatogenesis, during the reconstruction of the cytoplasm. During spermatogenesis, required for the transformation of a ring-shaped structure around the base of the flagellum originating from the chromatoid body.
