Format
Lyophilized
Reconstitution
Allow the vial and reconstitution buffer to equilibrate to room temperature. Briefly centrifuge or tap down the vial to ensure that all lyophilized powder is collected at the bottom of the vial. For the reconstitution of this product, we recommend adding PBS or sterile water to achieve a final antibody concentration of 1 mg/mL. Allow the vial to reconstitute for 10-15 minutes at room temperature with gentle agitation. Avoid vigorous shaking that can cause foaming and antibody denaturation. Aliquot into volumes based on your experiment and store liquid protein at -20°C or -80°C for long time.
Buffer
Lyophilized from sterile PBS
Preservative
None
Storage
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20°C to -80°C. Store it under sterile conditions at -20°C to -80°C. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target

Full Name
complement C6
Function
Constituent of the membrane attack complex (MAC) that plays a key role in the innate and adaptive immune response by forming pores in the plasma membrane of target cells.
Biological Process
Complement activation Source: Reactome
Complement activation, classical pathway Source: UniProtKB-KW
Cytolysis Source: UniProtKB-KW
Innate immune response Source: UniProtKB-KW
In utero embryonic development Source: Ensembl
Regulation of complement activation Source: Reactome
Cellular Location
Secreted
Involvement in disease
Complement component 6 deficiency (C6D): A rare defect of the complement classical pathway associated with susceptibility to severe recurrent infections, predominantly by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Neisseria meningitidis.
PTM
All cysteine residues are assumed to be cross-linked to one another. Individual modules containing an even number of conserved cysteine residues are supposed to have disulfide linkages only within the same module.
