SAR1A

SAR1A (Secretion Associated Ras Related GTPase 1A) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are TGF-Beta Pathway and Delta508-CFTR traffic / ER-to-Golgi in CF. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include GTP binding and signal transducer activity. An important paralog of this gene is SAR1B.
Full Name
SAR1 homolog A (S. cerevisiae)
Function
Involved in transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus (By similarity).
Required to maintain SEC16A localization at discrete locations on the ER membrane perhaps by preventing its dissociation. SAR1A-GTP-dependent assembly of SEC16A on the ER membrane forms an organized scaffold defining endoplasmic reticulum exit sites (ERES).
