Target

Full Name
LECTIN, MANNOSE BINDING 2
Introduction
LMAN2 is a type I transmembrane lectin that shuttles between the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus and the plasma membrane. LMAN2 binds high mannose type glycoproteins and may facilitate their sorting, trafficking and quality control. Among its related pathways are Metabolism of proteins and Transport to the Golgi and subsequent modification. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include carbohydrate binding and heat shock protein binding. An important paralog of this gene is LMAN2L.LMAN2 plays a role as an intracellular lectin in the early secretory pathway. LMAN2 interacts with N-acetyl-D-galactosamine and high-mannose type glycans and may also bind to O-linked glycans. LMAN2 is involved in the transport and sorting of glycoproteins carrying high mannose-type glycans (By similarity).
