SUGT1

This gene is homologous to the yeast gene SGT1, which encodes a protein involved in kinetochore function and required for the G1/S and G2/M transitions. Complementation studies suggest that the human protein has similar functions. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
Full Name
SUGT1
Function
May play a role in ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins.
Biological Process
Biological Process mitotic cell cycleManual Assertion Based On ExperimentTAS:ProtInc
Biological Process protein stabilizationManual Assertion Based On ExperimentIBA:GO_Central
Biological Process regulation of protein stabilityManual Assertion Based On ExperimentIDA:AgBase
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm
Nucleus
Translocates to the nucleus upon heat shock, requiring S100A6.
PTM
Phosphorylated at Ser-281 and Ser-331, dephosphorylation promotes nuclear translocation, most likely due to disruption of the SUGT1-HSP90 complex.
