This antibody is ideal for food safety testing, particularly in the dairy and animal feed industries. Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the primary toxin that contaminates animal feed. When ingested by a lactating animal (like a dairy cow), it is metabolized and excreted in milk as Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1). This antibody's dual specificity makes it highly effective for: Dairy Testing: Primarily to quantify AFM1 in milk, cheese, and yogurt. Feed Testing: To quantify AFB1 in the original grain or feed, helping to trace the source of contamination.

What is the cross-reactivity profile? Will it detect "total aflatoxins"?

No. Unlike broad-spectrum antibodies, this one (clone CB1467) is more specific. It is designed to bind strongly to Aflatoxin M1 and Aflatoxin B1. It is reported to have significantly lower or negligible cross-reactivity with Aflatoxins B2, G1, and G2. This is a feature, not a flaw, as it allows for the specific measurement of the most toxic parent toxin (B1) and its key regulated metabolite (M1).
