ZMAT3

ZMAT3 is a protein containing three zinc finger domains and a nuclear localization signal. The mRNA and the protein of this gene are upregulated by wildtype p53 and overexpression of this gene inhibits tumor cell growth, suggesting that this gene may have a role in the p53-dependent growth regulatory pathway.

Function

Acts as a bona fide target gene of p53/TP53. May play a role in the TP53-dependent growth regulatory pathway. May contribute to TP53-mediated apoptosis by regulation of TP53 expression and translocation to the nucleus and nucleolus.
