Introduction

CDR2 (Cerebellar Degeneration-Related Protein 2, 62kDa) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CDR2 include cerebellar degeneration and paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration. An important paralog of this gene is CDR2L. By a combination of study of rodent/human somatic cell hybrids and in situ hybridization, Gress et al. (1991, 1992) assigned the CDR2 gene to 16p13.1-p12. The gene is positioned in an interval that contains 2 rare heritable fragile sites.
