TM9SF2

TM9SF2 is a member of the transmembrane 9 superfamily. The encoded 76 kDa protein localizes to early endosomes in human cells. TM9SF2 possesses a conserved and highly hydrophobic C-terminal domain which contains nine transmembrane domains. TM9SF2 may function in small molecule transport or act as an ion channel. A pseudogene associated with this gene is located on the X chromosome.

Cellular Location
Endosome membrane
Golgi outpost
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center
Localizes to the postsynaptic Golgi apparatus region, also named Golgi outpost, which shapes dendrite morphology by functioning as sites of acentrosomal microtubule nucleation.
